This is the last RadioRadar+ for 2016, and we’re so, so sorry for the Paul McCartney references right out of the gate. But if you stick with today’s podcast past that nonsense, you’ll find some delightful discussion of the last few big games of the year. Nintendo’s Super Mario Run is taking mobile by storm, and we all think it’s varying degrees of ‘fine’. We take some time to answer a reader question, and chat about the games that inspired us to see games as more than just a thing that sucks up our time. And lastly, we’re two weeks away from 2017, and yet there are still games coming out – we talk about a few that are worth seeking out.

It’s not the best awards show of all time, but at least it’s
something! The Game Awards came and went, and while we didn’t actually
see many awards given on stage we did at least get a fresh look at a
number of anticipated games. Kojima tore our minds apart with a new
Death Stranding trailer, we wonder if BioWare will ever make us flip
out again after a tepid Mass Effect Andromeda showing, and and we
marvel at the latest peak at Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Finally we
close with early impressions of The Last Guardian and reopen the
debate on whether or not Prince of Persia 2008 is any good.

Ten years and a change in directors, platforms, and title later, and Final Fantasy 15 is finally out and ready for the world. It’s kind of a mess, but it’s a beautiful mess, and we explain why it’s such an enchanting game to play, even when its story doesn’t hold up under any amount of scrutiny. We also head back into No Man’s Sky with an investigation of its latest update – it fixes a lot of the biggest problems, but is it enough? Last, we talk about Dishonored 2 (again) and how its ending chapters leave a little to be desired. We also talk about some of our favorite video game endings, and what makes them so impactful, even now. Spoilers, obvs.
